Next Generation Technology

Sony’s new research and development (R&D) team, Future Lab, is breaking the barrier into next generation technology.

At SXSW, or South by Southwest, Sony displayed two of the most recent additions to the product line, which include a projector that turns any tabletop into an interactive touch-sensitive display and a Bluetooth wearable speaker.

The projector allows the user to move make any surface into an interactive tabletop. The user can move items being projected by touching and hovering above any object.

The breakthrough speaker system allows someone wearing the device to listen to music, either as a speaker or through a headphone jack, as well as learn about the current weather and news, and even take pictures.

Sony is at taking research and development to a whole new level. Middle market companies must also find the balance between investing capital in research and development and holding onto it for other interests.

Often times, companies will invest a greater amount of cash into research and development to create a new business line or other products to help with expansion and growth of the company.

Other times a business will use research and development to improve upon already existing services and products that the company is offering.

It is important to understand where your business stands in the market, what opportunities are out there for investment, and how the company can continue successful growth.

Depending on what industry your business is in, it helps to define what percentage of your revenue should be invested in R&D.
